Michele Baker, Executive Director

Michele’s Bio

Michele is the Executive Director for Primary Beginnings, LLC. As the Executive Director, she is responsible for assisting the company in maintaining high-quality delivery and brand consistency. She has oversight of the center operations and the delivery of Primary Beginnings philosophy of a high-quality program for each family.

Michele began with Primary Beginnings in August 2001, where she started out as an infant teacher. Over the next decade, Michele moved up the company career ladder as an administrative assistant and then assistant director. It wasn’t long before she moved into the Center Director position at the North Hills location. After helping the center receive their first 5-star license rating, she moved to the other centers to fill in as the acting director at varies times for of all three centers. By 2008, Michele became the Corporate Director. Moving to her current role as Executive Director, Michele’s goals for Primary Beginnings is to provide quality early childhood education to our children, and to maximize the financial potential of each of their two centers.

Michele has over 16 years’ experience in the early childhood field. In 2010, Michele received the honor of being a Director of the Year nominee of the NC Licensed Child Care Association. Before she began her career at Primary Beginnings, Michele worked for a large, national child care organization. She believes that children are unique individuals who all deserve quality early childhood experiences from their childcare provider.

Michele has a degree in Family and Consumer Science with a focus on Child Development and Family Relations from North Carolina Central University. She is a native of North Carolina, and currently resides in Clayton with her husband and daughter. She loves Tarheel Basketball and Pittsburgh Steelers football. In her spare time, Michele enjoys spending time with her family and their two dogs, baking, shopping and going to NFL games.
