When is Easter 2023?
This year, Easter will be celebrated a bit earlier than usual - April 9th, 2023.
This is because Easter is set to occur on the first Sunday following the full moon of the spring equinox. Since Easter Sunday is based on a Lunar month which is just 29.5 days, the date it occurs each year varies. Now that we’ve covered when Easter is this year, let’s dive into the fun part of the blog post - fun Easter activities!
Easter Basket Ideas for Toddlers
Easter baskets are a great way to bring joy and fun to toddlers during the Easter season. With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start when picking out an Easter basket. Here are some great items you can fill an Easter basket with that will put a smile on a toddler’s face.
- Faux Easter grass is typically the base for most Easter baskets as it creates the illusion of a meadow which is perfect for Easter time.
- Stuffed animals, including bunnies and chicks. Although not an animal, a plush Easter egg would also be a wonderful addition to any Easter basket.
- Stickers - we haven’t met a child who doesn’t absolutely love stickers.
- A chocolate bunny. This has grown to be an Easter staple that is not only tasty but pretty.
- Plastic eggs filled with chocolate or coins.
- Your toddler’s (or loved one’s) favorite candy, such as peanut butter cups, robin eggs, and peeps.
- Easter books you can read with your child.
- A small puzzle you can complete with your toddler.

Indoor Easter Egg Hunt Ideas
If the weather isn’t suitable for an outdoor Easter egg hunt, you can host one inside - we promise it will still be a lot of fun. You can still hide plastic Easter eggs filled with money or candy around the house, and the children will love finding them just as much as they would outside. After all, a prize is a prize!
Even if you do have an Easter egg hunt outside, who says you can’t have an indoor scavenger hunt too? The easiest way to do this is by filling Easter eggs with unique clues that will enhance your child’s problem-solving skills and lead them closer and closer to the prize - their custom Easter basket. Dying Easter eggs
You can’t go wrong by purchasing a simplistic Easter egg dying kit and dunking boiled eggs in pastel or vibrant colors with your toddler.
This age-old tradition is a trusty go-to Easter idea for toddlers that is sure to win over a smile. To enhance the design, your child can add stickers to the eggs. Or, simply leave the eggs as is and fill them in a basket of your choice to display around the house. Just don't leave them out in the open for too long!
Easter Crafts for Preschoolers
Creating an Easter bunny out of a paper plate is a simple Easter craft children of any age can create with just a little guidance. For this craft, simply start with a paper plate to mimic the bunny’s face, use pipe cleaners to create the bunny’s whiskers, stick on adhesive googly eyes, and glue on the ears by cutting out oval-shaped pieces of pink and white construction paper. Lastly, glue on a craft pom in between the two sets of whiskers and draw on the mouth by mimicking a cursive “w.” Viola! It’s as simple as that.
While there are various different Easter crafts you can make with your child, it’s important to prioritize fun crafts over aesthetically pleasing ones. After all, this holiday should be fun-filled!
