Update on Spring Forest Preschool’s New Outdoor Learning Environment!

Spring Forest Primary Beginnings is excited to be making progress on our new Outdoor Learning Environment (OLE)!

Last Fall, the Spring Forest preschool was awarded the “Preventing Obesity Through Design” grant, part of The Natural Learning Initiative/ NC College of Design. The grant was created to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity while improving outdoor environmental diversity in North Carolina.

We would appreciate help from our community and parents to to help us create our beautiful new garden and outdoor environment.  Below is list of materials we need to continue our project. Any donations can be dropped off at the office.

  • Mulch (Scotts Hyponex Brown brand @ Walmart for $2.97 a bag)
  • Flowers
  • Planters
  • Fruit trees/bushes (blueberries, strawberries, etc)
  • Vegetables
  • Decking wood
  • Decking screws
  • Potting soil
  • Shade sail
  • Bamboo poles
  • Kids size garden tools
  • Kid size garden gloves
  • Monetary donations
  • Man hours

We’ve taken the first step and are installing a bike path:
